End Split Ends – Get Your Hair Healthy in a Hurry

Hi all,

Ever realize your hair is definitely growing but doesn’t seem to be getting much longer? This would be because your hair is breaking at the ends or splitting up the hair shaft via those joyous split ends. Read on for tips on keeping your hair feeling healthy and growing quickly!

1. Vaseline – Split End Quick Fix

For a quick fix, rub about a quarter-sized amount of Vaseline on the ends of your hair then brush through. This will have your hair feel amazing and healthy right away.

2. Self-trim Every 2 Months

Part wet hair in sections like you would if you were straightening it. Hold it in between your fingers and cut above your fingers, trimming 1-3 cm with sharp scissors. Hair will feel worlds better and grow longer much faster.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse – Post-Conditioner

This is a old school trick but it really works. Add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 1 cup of water and keep it in a container in your shower. After conditioning your hair, pour about 1/6th of the mixture on top of your head, then use a wide-toothed brush or shower comb to brush it, distributing it through your hair. Leave on for 2-5 minutes then wash out. This balances the pH of your hair and makes it crazy shiny and silky.

4. Wash Hair Every Other Day or Less

Letting your natural oils condition your hair will make it much healthier. If you feel you need to wash it everyday because it gets greasy, this is your hair reacting to constantly being washed, having to replenish your natural hair oils quickly! I promise your hair will adapt to fewer washes and won’t be as greasy. I like to add about a dime-sized dollop of conditioner to my ends everyday as not washing it as often can leave your ends dry.

5. Leave Conditioner Overnight w/ Shower Cap

Using your normal conditioner, apply to wet hair then gather hair into a shower cap before bed. The shower cap locks in the heat from your head letting the conditioner penetrate the hair follicle. Wash out in the shower the next morning and prepare to be amazed by softness.

6. Use Box Dye Conditioners

These are great because they are deep conditioners meant to be used after damaging dyeing your hair. Bonus points saving money using conditioner you already have from box dye! I love this trick as it leaves my hair feeling super silky and don’t find it too oily as I only wash my hair every 2-3 days. If you find it too oily, try using it mainly towards the ends of your hair.

7. Conditioner On Ends Every Morning

I like to massage about a dime-sized amount of regular conditioner to the ends of wet or dry hair before I brush it through. This makes your ends feel great and seems to protect it from brushing at dry ends.

8. Brush Hair Less

Our grandmas would often follow the myth that brushing your hair 100 strokes a day will make it healthy. And while it definitely detangles, brushing often can also damage and break your hair. Try brushing your hair only when needed to keep breakage at bay.

9. Only Dye Roots

Dyeing is known to damage your hair especially blonde dye or worse – bleach. If you dye your hair, try to only dye your roots and if you really need to refresh dull colour, pull it through for the last 5 minutes only.
