Even though this is The Blonde on a Budget, being on a budget is all about knowing when it is necessary (and worth it) to splurge. The following are products I think are amazing enough to spend that extra cash:
This has completely changed my skin: reduced breakouts, evened out tone and redness, reduced pore size, banished dry skin, includes top-rated anti-wrinkle properties (accelerated Retinol SA and vitamin C), SPF 30 to reduce sun damage and burns. Overall it is a great daily moisturizer that doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on the skin, not to mention sits great under makeup (makeup doesn’t slide off like with a greasy moisturizer).
Where to buy: Walmart, any drug stores, some grocery stores
I intermittently had the worst skin of anyone I knew throughout high school. Going on birth control helped slightly but Clindoxyl gel completely fixed my skin and made continually clear. My skin has not become immune to it and broken out again like countless other prescriptions I have tried. When I went off of it for a few months and my skin went right back to being terrible, proving this is the only reason my skin has improved. It is also light and doesn’t make my skin flaky-dry like other acne prescriptions.
Where to buy: by prescription
Insanely vibrant highlight that I have never seen matched. Goes on super well when applied with fingers – no brush needed. Amazingly pigmented, get a lot of product for what you pay, champagne-coloured so it’s not super white like some highlighters. Just be careful not to drop and break it like I did *urgh!*
I like to apply to the brow bone, inner eye corner, cheek bones and cupid’s bow. Can apply as lightly or layered as you like for desired highlight.
Where to buy: Sephora
When my hair was bleached (read: destroyed) it was porous, broke constantly, and generally felt like steel wool. This was the only conditioner that made a difference in terms of making my sad hair feel soft. I used it nearly every time I conditioned, about 3 times a week (for less damaged hair, once a week is likely sufficient as this is a hair mask).
How many girls have you seen these days with brows that look they were drawn on with a Sharpie and have that dreaded straight inner edge? (Brows should start out soft not blunt and fade to more opaque to the end). This product is great for that because its only lightly pigmented and keeps your brows in place all day without feeling like glue on your skin.
