With the cold weather upon us, our skin is starting to be exposed to the harsh elements, which can affect skin’s healthy appearance. The first step to having a flawless complexion is using the right products. You can reap the benefits of skin rejuvenating essentials without draining your wallet by using items you already have at home! Here are three game changing DIY face scrubs that solve common skin problems!
Coffee Scrub
For redness, inflammation and cellulite

Coffee scrubs are all the rage – and for a good reason! Ground coffee beans can reduce redness and inflammation in your skin. When used on other “problematic” areas, the caffeine in coffee can even reduce the appearance of cellulite! Combine with coconut oil for its cleansing and hydrating properties, and brown sugar to exfoliate dead skin cells.
- ½ cup ground coffee beans
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- ¼ cup brown (or white) sugar
Lemon, Honey & Sugar Scrub
For smooth, glowing skin

This scrub is a holy grail for radiant skin! The lemon juice contains natural lightening properties that can reduce the appearance of redness, acne scars and dark circles. Honey is a great natural product for skin because it is an antibacterial agent. It contains antioxidants that slow down skin’s aging process, while it soothes and hydrates. Mix with sugar to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells for a smooth completion.
- ½ cup lemon juice
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup sugar (white or brown)
Oatmeal Scrub
For acne

Oatmeal has cleansing properties that reduce oil and moisturize skin. Apple cider vinegar is excellent for skin as it works as a toner. It restores the skins PH level and reduces the appearance of red spots, acne, and fine wrinkles. Compliment the scrub by mixing in brown sugar; a natural substance that contains glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is found in a number of expensive skin care products. Its benefits include removing dead skin cells, unclogging pores and improving skins overall appearance.
- ½ cup of oatmeal (whole or ground)
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
